10 ways to put your emotional house in order

"Life truly begins after you have put your house in order." – Marie Kondo
Grief can feel like a heavy weight, filling every corner of your heart and mind. As we step into Life Spring Clean, let's start by clearing out the emotional clutter that holds us back. Just like tidying a home, healing requires intention, patience, and courage.
Here are 10 ways to put your emotional house in order:
1️⃣ Make amends – Start with forgiveness, both for yourself and others. Resentment and anger can weigh you down.
2️⃣ Release guilt – It’s natural to wonder if you could have done something differently, but guilt won’t bring peace.
3️⃣ Let go of shame – Whether it's feeling you should have done more or not grieving the way others expect, shame has no place in healing.
4️⃣ Release regret – The "what ifs" can be overwhelming, but carrying them won’t change the past.
5️⃣ Avoid risky behaviors – Steer clear of substances, overeating, or other coping mechanisms that harm more than help.
6️⃣ Take charge of your life – Small steps each day help you regain control.
7️⃣ Make meaning – Honoring your child’s memory can bring purpose to your pain.
8️⃣ Plan for tough days – Special occasions and milestones can be challenging. A plan can help ease the weight of grief.
9️⃣ Assess self-talk – Speak to yourself with the same kindness you would offer a friend.
🔟 Be present – Grief pulls us into the past or makes us anxious about the future. Focus on the here and now.
🌿 This month, let’s clear out what no longer serves us and make space for healing. 🌿
